China’s iPad Generation: “Roughly 58 million children like Yi are left in China’s countryside without their parents.”

In reporting for the Pulitzer Center, Deborah Jian Lee and Sushma Subramanian explore the toll paid by children left at home by China’s massive population of migrant workers. 

Of course a more accurate title might have been China’s “Tech” or “Manufacturing” Generation, but obviously much more evocative this way, and it’s a heartbreaking story. Read it.
